Living in Monforte del Cid
Where it is and how you get there
Monforte del Cid lies inland in the province of Alicante, between Elche, Novelda and the city of Alicante. It is dry hill country with vineyards and table grapes; you cannot see the sea from here. Alicante airport is about twenty minutes away, the beaches of Alicante and Santa Pola half an hour. The A-31 runs past the municipality and links it to Elda and to Madrid.
What kind of place it is, and who it suits
The village is Spanish and lives from agriculture and trade. The table grape of the Vinalopó area is a regional product with its own designation of origin, and the grapes ripen on the vine inside paper bags, which gives the fields here a look of their own. Most of the new build stands on a golf resort outside the village. That makes it a place for people who want golf and space with the airport around the corner.
What you will find there
The village has supermarkets, a market, a health centre and schools. Alenda Golf, just outside the village, has its own course and clubhouse. For a hospital and large shops you drive to Elche or Alicante, both within half an hour. Being close to the airport is the decisive reason for part of the buyers here: you are home within half an hour of landing, without the coastal traffic.
